Hello everyone and welcome to my introduction page. My name is Vitor Bruno as you might have guessed by the URL you entered. I was born in February 17th, 1987 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I recently moved to Europe to live with my (now) wife. This page was designed to offer you a little bit of information about me and how we can become acquaintances and eventually colleagues.
As I mentioned before, my name is Vitor Bruno and I have been dealing with innovation for several years. At the same time, I moved out of my parents’ place to a new place, region, and culture. Almost 725 km apart. I wanted to try something new that I always wanted, teaching, but instead of doing ‘normal classes’: “repeat after me…” or “let’s open the book on page…” I wanted to teach the way I wanted to learn. I always asked my students why they wanted to learn, how they wanted to learn and balanced with what they already knew. Purposeful learning seemed to be a good way to push away the Brazilian mindset of learning could be boring, afterall I was teaching based on what they liked and already knew.
Meanwhile I needed new friends, I started volunteering myself to the business association where I became the vice coordinator of the newly founded innovation chamber. I became community and events manager for Startup Grind. I mentored several startup weekends and hackathons. I got a scholarship to study the Lean Startup Launchpad method with the UC Berkeley university (when they came to visit Brazil). I also had the chance to organize a Hackathon for NASA. And before covid striked hard I visited Silicon Valley. My goal was to learn how to innovate and teach my friends, afterall I never considered customers less than friends that helped me pay the bills.
Back, I did some more courses due the covid period such as ux design, project management, innovation management and innovation diplomacy which led me to start a Master’s degree in technological innovation because I wanted to embed design thinking to our capstone project writing towards innovation plans, which led me to be a fellow researcher at the Sao Paulo Research Foundation, where I organized the Small Business Innovative Research program, compiling their OKRs and KPIs while fixing the entrepreneurship/innovation course they provided.
My last experiences include creating a mini hackathon in Oslo, called Hackaday. I was able to host a three part event for 30 people. We had a fireside chat with a founder, another chat with an investor, and the last part was was where people could mingle, build something (service or product and pitch themselves) based on their on their ideas or one of our challenges.
I am also the host for the Language Friends Program at the Latin American Association, where we mingle every sunday to practice Norwegian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese in order to learn and teach one-another, before matching the participants between them based on things they like and want to learn.
